You can't go wrong with Chesterton; particularly when he is describing one of his contemporaries. Like the majority of Chesterton's biographies, this book won't tell you many "facts" about GBS, but it will present a solid, complete, and enjoyable picture of Shaw as a man: giving his opinions and criticizing them.I only give it three stars because the page layout is - frankly - defective. The print is offset to the outer side of each page. If you can ignore this (I cannot), the book is perfectly accessible.

I used to be read all his plays when growing up in Austria, absolutely gobsmacked by his ideas and sentences - nothing has changed. So, remembering and expanding on that experience reading this book was a most enjoyable and welcome undertaking!
Just saw a play, "Chesterton vs. Shaw," which introduced me to the book. Great book - Chesterton is so astoundingly insightful, always edifying.
A valuable reprint of a public-domain significant book.

You have to like reading biographies to work through this one, he is a different and unusual character and the book gives you a good inkling of life in those times. His writings are more than worth while reading.
An intimate writing regarding an interesting man. Mr. Chesterton's labors help to reveal the pen behind "St. Joan" and "Man and Superman."
